The best will be far from the cheapest, and the cheapest will be far from the best. Go for whatecver you can afford and like the look of.

Cheapest and best value, Uniqlo without any doubt.

If the welfare of the ducks or geese is of concern, the cheapest mightn't be ones for which the down was ethically sourced.

thats the logical way of thinking but not a guaranteed method, you can always contact the company and ask them, if what you want is cheap and good then you may have to set ethics aside

Decathlon's Wed'ze light down jacket is fairly cheap, but certainly not the best. Very lightweight shell, and quite lightly stuffed (~100g of 90/10 down, which they appear to be claiming is 660fp), giving a total weight of ~250g.

Somewhere else on the price scale is Rab's Microlight Alpine down jacket, which has a much more sturdy-feeling shell, and is better stuffed, with probably better down (140g of claimed 750fp); that's why it weighs 445g and costs ~3.5 times the price...

For completely bonkers price, you could consider the Yeti Cut (or Proton-Ash, or whatever they've decided to call it...)

Second the comment made by TobyA over Uniqlo.
I bought one of their Ultra down gilets last year and used extensively for a ski season in Japan. Still going strong and good value at £40.
