The perfect travel shirt?

Shouldn't the perfect travel shirt be synthetic enough not to crease, but not so synthetic that it gets smelly too quickly?

For example, Rohan shirts don't crease &don't need ironing but are very polyester heavy & need washing often (bit like the classic helly hansen tshirts, but not quite as bad). I have a patagonia shirt which is quite cottony but creases heavily. Merino wool satisfies both requirements for winter tshirts, but no use for summer shirts.

I've only ever found one shirt which satisfies both criteria, but it was a one off by Fosters menswear I found in a charity shop - don't think they even exist any more.. I've never found another shirt like it. Anyone on here have any top tips?

Much of my travel shirt collection seems to be North Face, if for no other reason than I liked them at the time. Seemed to be ok on the smell and crease side around Thailand last year.

Lightweight merino's actually not a bad option for summer (though I'll admit I run fairly cold, and some might find it too warm in hot climates), but depends if a polo shirt is smart enough.

depends on the season/climate. I have a couple of very light cotton short sleeved shirts from Patagonia (sales so reasonable price) which dry extremely quickly & if dried on a hanger don't need ironing. Fine for Spain (or similar) in summer but maybe a bit cold for further north or in winter
