Working on some photo topos at the moment and was wondering what people felt was the most effective way of marking the lines taken by the routes?

As I see it the options are

- solid line
- two colour alternating lines (West Country Climbs uses red and white)
- dashed line

The first approach can be effective but it can be difficult to find one colour that stands out well on all photos. The advantage of the dashed line is that they expose more of the detail of the line. A solid line marking a thin crack can all but obscure it.

Also what colour is best?

Thie colour of the lines highlighting the route is something that bugs me a lot on Rockfax guides,
They use red, I have a red green colour blind thing, this means I can't follow the lines on their books, bright yellow, white or pink , would be better, anything but efin red, or dark orange.
