I'll be in Chamonix in early June and would love to have a go at Mont Blanc, possibly by the Gouter route. I've heard conflicting views about whether it is a good idea at that time of year in terms of there being a lot of snow around which might be dangerous or just a pain. I can't see much on google about it, can anyone here offer any thoughts?

Cheers.

There will almost certainly be a lot of snow then that will make doing it on foot impossible/hard/dangerous. A month or six weeks later would give you a much better chance.

Good ski tour, maybe?

On skis, normally yes.

I've gone up MB the 3rd week in June 2 years ago and its was in good condition. Lots of groups were about and it wasn't too difficult to get into the Gouter hut either at this time but I did book online in advance. In saying that I know last year they had a longer winter season so it may not have been possible at that time then. All depends!
