Snow depth/conditions in Lochaber area
I'm likely to be up in the Lochaber for a few days next week .
I've got my usual winter kit ( axe and crampons ) but the SAIS have said there is a ''tremendous amount of snow above 600m '' .
From previous experiences in Wales and the Pennines I know that snow slows me down significantly and post holing for hours is arduous stuff .
As I don't ski , would it be worth chucking snowshoes in the car as well to make progress a bit easier ? Or will clever route planning be enough to keep out of the deeper snow ?
In reply to SethChili:
If you have snowshoes, I'd take them! At higher altitudes there may well be scoured and icy aspects, but lower down deep wet stuff maybe difficult to avoid.
