Hi

I know flying with Ryan Air doesn't come high on peoples' list of recommended activities, but it's too late, I've booked it and I'm flying tomorrow. When I tried to find out if I could put a carabiner and belay device in my cabin luggage, the woman I spoke to was singularly unhelpful.

Has anyone ever done this without being challenged? Has anyone had such equipment confiscated before flying?

It doesn't matter what airline it is, it matters what airport it is, as the airport, not the airline, does security.

Phone them if you're wanting to see, however as it could be used as a knuckle duster I personally would check any metal gear in.

Roll a dice. Personally, I'd either pay for hold baggage, or leave it at home, not get it confiscated and buy a set in the resort.

Whichever works out cheaper.
