Anyone know what the current conditions (ice/snow etc rather than weather) on this face are like at the moment?

Judging by the conditions in Cham at the moment, I'd say buried under fresh snow and pummeled by avalanches.

Driest and warmest winter for years in Bavaria and the (north) Tyrol, not like in the French & Italian Alps at all. Don't know about central Switzerland though.
