I want to overlay two videos but I don't know how. The idea is to show the back of someone looking in to a mirror, and then have their reflection doing different things. Is this possible?

Basically, you want the second clip above the first in the timeline, and you want to mask out the reflection area and feather it a bit. The mask contains the reflection area, with the non-masked area letting the clip underneath show through.

You'll need to shoot the same locked-off camera angle for both shots, obviously.

You may need to animate the matte if the area changes or gets covered up by the lowered shot.

yep i imagine it would be a lot easier to do if pre-planned. and you have your actor remain in the same place as much as possible
