This: http://www.geoportail.gouv.fr/accueil does the IGN maps of France.

Are there similar sites for Italy and Spain?

Not sure what you are after exactly. But open this link and play around with it, it might be of use.

Thanks, I'm looking for a website that offers the Italian and Spanish equivalent of O.S. maps.

If you zoom in on the link I sent it gives a lot of detail, maybe not so detailed as the OS, and it lacks the gridlines. It is probably the best you'll get unless you want to purchase maps from a shop or online. I'd be happy if others can suggest something better that I'm not aware (online) of as I spend a lot of time in spain. Again, I might be way out on what you expect.

I was looking for something with grid lines so that I could print out small sections and laminate them for navigation so it would need to be proper OS 1:50,000 or 1:25,000 data.

I use Bing for this in the UK and the French one I linked to works well too.

From what I could see the only link for spain on that thread gives the same one that I already have for spain. Ho-hum.

Has helped with access to a lot of other maps though, so thanks.

I understand why the maps aren't out there but it would be nice if they were!

I got 1:25000 maps for my trips over there from a link on a geoching site.
I think it was this site here but I`m not sure...

I had to download a programme to scroll them on my pc but that was a few years ago.A quick look suggests that you could do a screen capture here.Helps if you can read Spanish I suppose.
