Hi climber just to say owls are nesting on eggs on the roof route so would be a good idea to leave this route and the adjacent root route alone

I unknowingly set off up Roof Route today, following my mate's lead of Root Route, and got a bit of a nasty shock just as I was thinking about getting some gear in the roof - heard a rustling sound, saw the owl in the cave, ducked and saw it fly by me. No idea if there was a nest in there as I downclimbed pretty quickly in a state of bewilderment, but it would appear that the cave is still occupied!

I'd be careful and quiet anywhere near the area of the route; if only because they can accurately target a deposit of copius amounts of shit.
In reply to DBoothroyd:

A lucky escape - it's a tawny owl which can do some serious damage. Get the free RAD app on your phone and you can check for bird bans and other access issues before you climb.
