Am heading to the central Pyrenees next week (Benasque), does anyone know what the conditions are like at the moment?

Any information on the snowline, consolidation of snow etc. would be very helpful.

I don't ski and am mentally preparing for a massively extended version of this winters powder snow trudge up to Scottish routes...hoping for the best!

Not Benasque but friends were in Andorra last week & said there was plenty of snow (they were skiing) and this suggests snow (& avalanches)

2nd hand info: last week the upper layers of snow were melting on the French side, but there has been fresh snow above 1500m since.

Right now, the avalanche risks are very high above 2000m.

In reply to drolex: Benasque the town is snow free as your picture shows. The Esera valley which Benasque is in is not- Pedant !

You can find the avalanche forecast for Aragon Pirenees here (in Spanish):
http://www.aemet.es/es/eltiempo/prediccion/montana?w=2&p=arn1 (click in the 'Nivologica' tab above the forecast window to display the snow forecast)

For the record, for the Catalan Pyrenees you have http://www.igc.cat/web/es/allaus_butlleti.php which is also quite useful (and with nicer graphics...)
