Seriously though this is a terrible idea. Knocking five down but leaving one up for the assylum seekers. I'm no leftie but it's hardly going to create a good impression to the world.

Yeah. It was probably a mistake to hire Irvine Welsh to do the opening ceremony.

How is blowing up a bunch of f*cking ugly tower blocks a bad thing? Aside from getting rid of those dumps, it makes for a pretty cool and unique ceremony.

It's not a bad thing to demolish them just maybe a little bit crass and insensitive to do it as part of a big celebration, particularly as people will still be living in an adjacent tower.
