Hi all,
I've been scouring the local areas for somewhere to take my kids that's away from the crowds and found Under Rocks in the southern sandstone guide. Wanted to know is it worth a trip and what the conditions are like at the moment?
Many thanks
It's usually spelled "Under Rockes" (don't ask me why!)
No idea what the conditions are like at the moment but it's a fairly esoteric venue.
First problem can be finding it! I'ved known people wander around the fields for hours there without being able to locate it.
There are only a couple of routes under English 5b and the 2 grade 4s aren't anything to get excited about. Lots of cut holds (actually, support slots for beams) and many of the climbs are quite "reachy"
If you climb at UK tech 5c or above there are some nice climbs, and it's a lovely place on a warm Sunday afternoon or an evening, especially in May when the bluebells are out.
