I had an impromptu tour of the Plum factory today, during which our friendly host recommended winding back both release adjusters on the heel piece of the bindings, to relax the spring while it's not in use over the summer. This will help the spring will keep it's strength and release values. I thought I'd pass on this snippet for those packing away their skis over summer.

In reply to JohnV:

its good practise to do that with all bindings, not just touring ones. Just remember you've done it before you go for a slide on DIN 3 next winter - I can assure you it doesn't work and hurts!!!

In reply to aligibb: Been there, done that. Actually it worked fine for the first couple of gentle runs, but the first time I went over a wee jump, I left my skis behind!

One reason why it's a good idea to slack the springs off during the close season is because of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creep_(deformation)
