Already available, it seems useful when climbing, but the question is, will you take the risk?
 Choss 17 Apr 2014
In reply to Clarenceclimb:

No.

great so google will not only know everything we want to know, but also everything we are doing.

In reply to Clarenceclimb:

everyone will have these in oh, about 10 years time.
And, boy, is this going to change society. It will make this era of 'technology' seem like the dark-ages.

Remember what we said about mobiles when they first appeared...

In reply to Kimono: You really think everybody will be willing to wear a pair of glasses?

I've seen lots of people wearing glasses with plain lenses for no discernable reason.

In reply to Ridge: A small minority though, a long way from everybody.

I think they are closer to the bluetooth handsfree thingies. A big hit with cab drivers and Essex born city slickers.

No, please remind me.

they have a long way to go before they become really useful and i think the cost could limit development but have some features which could be very good. one of the ideas i do like is that they use bone conduction for sound which is something runners and cyclists have found useful (you can hear music or other information without blocking out whats going on around you), if this is combined with visual display that isn't distracting they could be on to something.
another thing which could limit their development is that smartphones can already be adapted for some of the areas where they would be of use

Will it be able to remove women's clothing while I discuss world politics?

Obviously, I'd want the glasses to filter out munters.

They already exist and go under the name of 'Beer Goggles'.

If you want to climb, then climb. If you want to watch porn, then watch porn. But not when you're climbing. Far too risky. And you probably wouldn'nt get a signal anyway. Sounds like play station generation climbing

Well, what i and a lot of people said was that we really didn't need to use mobile phones.
This slowly developed into saying, ok maybe i will get one, but i will only use it in an emergency…hahaha!

Maybe you were different?

Yes! Still don't have one. Still don't need one. What's good enough for Abu Ali ibn Sina is good enough for me!

Plenty of people wear glasses because they have poor eyesight, or the sun is shining. I assume in time this sort of tech will find its way unobtrusively in to corrective and sun glasses.

Glasses are a dead end. It won't be long before we have cybernetic implants giving a heads up display in front of you.

The next industrial revolution is the wiring up of the world- always on high speed data everywhere. We have only just dipped our toes into the water with this.
