Hoping to have a first trip up Ben Nevis in mid-May (just the tourist route). Does anyone know how much snow we should expect to still be there, and if the main path will still be safe and visible?

expect some large patches from anywhere above 800m, and there is a high chance given this years snowfall amounts that the summit plateu will still be under several feet of snow, though i would expect the tops of the cairns at least to be visable again. crampons and axe would still be recomended, or at least an understanding of wen to turn back if it becomes dangerous without. as always on the ben navigation can be tricky in a white out, and watch out for the still sizable and unstable cornices

I could see loads of snow on Nevis and Aonach Mor when I drove past over easter. If it's anything like the glen Affric area it will be plastered on N and E aspects above 850m, but clear on the S and W.
