I have just had an operation for ulnar release. It seems successful. How soon do you think I should restart climbing (comments on resuming mountain biking would also be welcome)

Was your ulna in jail?

If it was the the worst case and you had the nerve repositioned it means you had the tendons cut from your medial epicondyle. This is pretty much the same as a tendon release op I had and I was back to climbing in 4 months. Hopefully you had a bit less work done and you can get back earlier.
In reply to David Bennett:

I just had the channel sliced so my recovery should be quicker than yours. I was advised not to use it strenuously yet but have been doing more than recommended, particularly indoor bouldering with good mats. It feels OK: so far so good. I was hoping to get some practical guidance from people who have had similar done as the medical advice seems exceedingly cautious but it looks as though I will have to make it up as I go along. I feel ready to try some outdoor leading as soon as the weather improves.
