This is a quick thank you to all those who helped get my wife's look bike back on the road. See orig thread:

She ended up with a new 39 front chain rings, but not a full crankset, and a new rear 9sp campag cassette and chain. I've been reflecting on this recently as the result of all this has been not only my wife getting to use her bike again, but also me learning how to repair bikes, add and remove bits, and getting everything working slickly.
