Suggestions for dating sites focused on mountain sports?

I'm 45 and female and bored with being single. My free time revolves around climbing (rock and alpine) and skiing, so there is no point looking for anyone who doesn't enjoy those things. To make it more complicated, I live in Catalunya so am trying to find mountain guys who are English speaking but (preferably) live on the continent. (I do speak intermediate level Spanish, but I've had no luck with local guys and am trying to look future afield.)
Can anyone suggest any dating sites that focus on mountain sports / outdoor activities and that are used by people outside the UK or by European ex-pats?

With Match you can set up a search based on any criteria you like. So if you want to set up a search for English men, who climb and ski and live within x miles of your house you can.

I don't know if it's still going - I don't see adverts for it so much - but I met my husband via Fitness Singles four years ago. There seemed to be quite a few climbers/mountain types on there then. I know the site included a lot of Americans so imagine it would also include Europeans. Good luck!

The French mag Alpirando used to have a meet up section in the small ads, might still do. Used to define the walking/climbing level, and often end with 'plus si sympa' which I thought was rather sweet. Perhaps there should be something similar in British mags? Or Spanish mags? It is rewarding though to share one's passions - in the sporting sense I mean!

- Isolated as those continents might be...

I think online dating is a forum for people looking for a bit of the other and not the source for "fairytale" romance that the advertising would have you believe. To that end I could suggest some appropriate (or inappropriate) names for sites.

all to be appended with dot com:-

climbintobed
dynomygyno
offwidthcrack
veasy (as opposed to V DIFF)
placeyourgearhere
rockandcock

coat on and gone

crack_sack_&_whack

mounting4all

actually "coat_on_&_gone" is a good name for a website or username.

oh dear, this might put the original poster off all us 'outdoorsy' types.

£30 a month is a hefty price.

Maybe UKC could have a new forum section?

i have given up with non-climbers/campers etc. It not worth the hassle, and they just dont get why I want to sleep rough and not shower at the weekend!

But just thought of a name for a gay-dating site...
campers.com
campitup.com

(ps. i am straight but it is a diverse world out there.)

£30 a month is reasonably expensive but then how much might a person spend on a night out or two?

If you google "plenty of fish forums climbing" and then update the location to Spain, I think you'll find a page of mostly younger chaps but one is in you neck of the woods! One way to make more friends anyway.

'Potholers'?... what does one of those look like?
 Tall Clare 30 Apr 2014

Fleece suit / wellies. I'm sure cavers must have their own specialist site, with attire like that...

Just put up a shot of yourself in a tight top on here and ask for climbing partners and you'll be inundated with offers!

Don't you meet blokes whenever you go climbing?

I always thought that being a woman and being into any sort of sport meant never having to worry about meeting single like minded blokes.

A few of my mates have partnered up through natural friends - I don't know if it covers Spain as well though?

Anyway - I used that well known dating site, UKC myself, so who knows, you might be lucky...

or maybe you should just start stalking Al Evans - he's single isn't he?

UKC is very good for finding partners (of both kinds) but I don't know how many single UKCrs are living in Spain.

"Natural friends" is that a web site?

I would be entertained if "Unnatural-friends.com" existed.

I am going to say no I can't help, as once was helping a friend with dating for outdoors folks ( really, I' m happily married) and amongst others I suggested to him , I got a bit confused and suggested the GOC to him.
(He took it well , even though it turned out not to be a dating club. )

"GOC is more than just a walking group - they have found enduring friendships and the opportunity to get out and do events that they otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to."
http://www.goc.org.uk/

(I then asked them for some money for our new club hut, and they made a donation, nice people. )

Being of a routund persuasion, is probably not the best shape for a caver. You only need to jug a couple of big pitches in that kit and you sweat the weight off anyway.

Think more pale skin, bloodshot eyes and ingrained clay/mud oh and facial hair. The blokes on the other hand.........

If you are near Barcelona or Girona, I am sure you could find a lovely keen single climbing man on UKC and do an early block booking of alternate weekends in Catalonia and the UK courtesy of nice Mr O'Leary at Ryanair.

Alternate weekends in sunny Catalonia where everyone climbs 8c - now there's a thought......
