I'm best mad at a wedding this summer and have to sort a stag do. The stag wants to go coasteering so I've got a few questions:

Where is good to do it in July? I was thinking of south wales. We're based in West Yorkshire.

Can anyone recommend a good guide? Normally I dont do guided stuff but as this is semi official and we dont have any kit it will probably be the best bet.

How big a group is too big? There will probably be between 6 and 12 of us. Half of us are cavers/climbers but the other half are all fit and ok with a bit of excitement so it should be ok to do something reasonably challenging. I'm probably the worst swimmer in the group and am keen not to drown.

Cheers

I went sea kayaking with these people

Nice set-up and people - late bar, etc. I'm no real judge but they seemed pretty competent at the kayaking thing, and the coasteering mob who were there the same weekend certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.

There's one obvious venue for coasteering as a stage do.

I organised a stag do recently - we went with Anglesey Adventures from Porth Dafarch. I think there were about 12 of us. Lots of swimming, jumping and scrambling. The guide who lead us was pretty good. I'm a rubbish swimmer, but with a buoyancy aid managed not to drown.

We did this as a stag do last April (yes - the one with all the snow in it).
Good fun but unbelievably cold. Some casualties from the higher jumps. Not half as scary as the night out in Swansea that evening though....

Good. Coasteering in south pembrokeshire, and tenby is known as the stag and hen capital of wales if you want a "lively" night out.

Thanks. None of us will be bothered about a pissup but somewhere nice to eat would be good.

If you opted for Anglesey you have The Oystercatcher nearby:

We were supposed to be coasteering but it was too rough so we did gorge scrambling at dinas rock instead - it was the same as coasteering but in a river. Would deffo use them again.
