Always advisable to take an axe and crampons, never necessary or "watch the weather"? Also, is there a weather forecast equivalent of the Helvellyn felltop one that is published on MetOffice that actually gives the ground conditions?

We're just planning on doing the usual walking / light scrambling routes, nothing too committing (though would like to climb the Inaccessible Pinacle).
