Rather bonkers.

This guy (I confess local interest) is going to try and ride an original Raleigh Chopper up Mt Ventoux tomorrow!

If you see him, give him a wave.......

Fair play to him. Better than the "sponsor me to go on a smart holiday" efforts.

Barking right enough....

There was a guy trying to ride up Winnats on a Brompton bike on Monday - I presume he was trying to ride, he was pushing when I went past him

Lance Armstrong is Texan........

In reply to Enty:
I actually had visions of the mighty Chopper being single speed.

Hence our brave pilot arriving at the top of Ventoux with legs like Robert Forstemann

These guys are proper! One did a 1h17m up the Ventoux this week. We did 185km today around Sainte Victoire and Aix. After 110 miles everyone was still up for the sprint up the hill into Rousillon - awesome.

Good luck to him!

The hardest bit will be trying to keep the front wheel on the ground; he'd better practice riding like this

Coming down again will be terrifying - tiny front wheel, square section rear and ape hanger bars - rather him than me!

Seems he did it in 2h10m

Overtaken by 11 people on road bikes....

Overtook 41!

(Anyone know the equivalent size of the Chopper's bottom gear, in inches???)

That's definitely worthy of some Strava kudos!

I wonder how many points you get in the game for passing someone in full kit going up Mt Ventoux on a chopper?

Did he have tassels from the bars too?
Ah - just seen the video - classic, brought back some memories and my kids can't believe we used to ride them! Sad about the tassels though!
