anyone know where you can get smallish speed-hook buckles (as seen on boulder mats, rear of Hirondous harness -(would be ideal)

like these but a tad smaller to fit 16mm tape

oooohhhh so close, like that but totally flat (no curves/lumpy bits)

good start though - your google-fu is strong

I've been searching for ages to fix broken plastic buckles on one of my packs. They are pretty hard to come by in the desired size!

The only individual ones I can find are from Mad Rock, Metolius, Cactus Climbing, Alpkit and ITW G-hooks or they come as part of compression straps. But they're mostly all in 1" webbing size which is too big!

Its strange they're so hard to come by, as they're becoming very popular. I tried contacting a few manufacturers asking if they would sell some spare parts as bulk to no avail.

Send some designs to a local workshop that can laser / water cut sheet metal. Keep a few for yourself, and sell the rest to cover the costs!

I bought a set of those straps for my bikepacking set up - they work very well but are bloody expensive for two buckles and couple of metres of webbing - 10 EUR I think. I doubt you'd want to buy a set and immediately chop away the webbing at that price!

GrendeI have you seen the Sea to Summit field-usable replacement buckles? A bit pricy again, but an elegant solution to a broken buckle that is sewn in to a rucksack.

Not seen those no, thank you for the heads up! They look pretty sturdy but like you say pricey!

I ended up cutting a groove in a spare clip like this: http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/390525182419_1_0_1/1000x1000.jpg

It works, ish. But isn't strong and fitting it was an absolute bitch!

Don't know if these are any good to you, as it doesn't say what tape size they accept, thought it wouldn't do any harm to suggest them.
