If it's the highest mountain/caldera on Bali then I have in 1993. I seem to remember having to walk throughout the night to get to the top for dawn before the clouds built up. I don't think there was anything technical about the walk up to worry about.

I have climbed it hmm maybe 5-6 times. Easiest just to get a guide at the car park to lead you up, leaving around 2-3 am.

Seriously the better experience is to pop over to the neighbouring island of Lombok and try Rinjani.
