I have a Nikon Coolpix 50, which has been returned for repair 2x during guarantee. It still sticks, usually when shutting down. Has anyone found a solution? I've heard lubrication is dodgy bu have nevertheless tried to get some vaseline in - no tsure if it got to the essential mechanisms.

Not sure exactly where you are putting the vasaline, but if it gets on the lens, it obviously won't be good.

If it is still under guarantee I would insist the shop exchange it or give you your money back if you are having on going problems.

Luckily, the 2nd free service came just before expiry of the gurantee. What now happens is not fatal but v annoying. Offers of repair value at 50% of purchase.

Is this genre of problem common or do I just have a bad one?
