Does anyone have any info on/has stayed at the free campsite near Finale?

Cheers
Sam

I stayed there a long time ago. It is opposite a pizzeria below Monte Cucco.

It had a cold water supply, wash basins and a cold open air shower in 1998.

I can't recall if it had loos though.

Sorry I don't know as I haven't been back. I was hoping someone else would confirm the details for you.

There were loos there about 10 years ago..... It was pretty grim as I recall. Someone tried to break in to our van when we were on the crag.

Had feared as much, any knowledge of cheap alternatives?

In reply to samwillo: Depending on when you are going, Lorenzo at Hotel Florenz in Finale Borgo will often let you camp on the lawn for a nominal sum. Alternatively, there's the incredible hostel in town overlooking the sea and an absolute bargain price; they lock you out during the day but you'll be cranking so that should work for you.

Well this was a while ago but the campsites on the coast were crowded and expensive. We had a camper so used quiet spots in the hills for one night at a time before moving on. We sensed a bit of hositility from local climbers for this, which I put down to the piles of shite that other wild campers had left at the parking bays at the popular crags. A real shame. Lovely climbing though.
