If I were to walk in to a crag that is a good 4k or so from the nearest road, on a non-busy day, and solo a nice easy route in the nude would people have grounds to be annoyed if I went past them?

Assuming I don't step on their ropes or anything, obviously.

Guess that depends whether or not it is a crack climb.
In reply to Roberttaylor:

It doesn't count as soloing if you bring nuts.

Depends if you were soloing for the right reasons or just willy-waving.

Will you be crack climbing?

Depends how "exposed" the route is....

Why would you want to do it where anyone could see you?
There is a lot to be said for naked soloing but I'd never do it at crags where other people were climbing (excepting them being friends if were all in it together ofc).

Oh, and you might end up on the sex offenders register if someone does see you.
And you will _definitely_ end up on the sex offenders register if said person happens to be out walking with their child when you reach the top.

Sorry to be a spoilsport :P

Have to admit did Spartan Slab on Etive Slabs like that once about 30 years ago with only chalk bag and rock boots. Was totally pissed off by the party in front who had got up at 5am in the morning waking everyone in the bothy to get a head start on the route only to find them still just on the second pitch at 9.30am

I showed them! Up and down in 17 minutes from the coffin stone. They were never the same again!

You mean you're not doing Flying Buttress Direct on a bank holiday?

That would be worth a tenner for charity...

There used to be a sequence of pictures in (?) the Clachaig of someone doing some glencoe routes au naturel - I seem to remember he was American. Anyone know anymore about those?
 coinneach 23 May 2014
In reply to colinakmc:
The route was "Elliot's Downfall"

Forget the climber's name but a bet with Wullie Elliot ( Glencoe shepherd of the time ) was made late at night in The Clachaig.

Are you sure about that? Being naked isnt always about sex. I dont recall hearing that the naked rambler got put on the sex offenders register.

No. I'm not at all sure. But;
Dumpster diving isn't about theft but that's still what you will be charged with (assuming the police can be ar5ed).
Having a couple of grams of cocaine isn't about dealing but you will still be charged with intent to supply.

You are not going to be charged with the crime you think you are commiting, you are going to be charged with whatever the stick-up-the-bum crown persecution service reccon they might be able to convict you of.

I've no idea what happened to the naked rambler in the end. Although, I doubt the idea of being put on said register would worry him much!

For those of a certain age: I think it was issue 3 of High, check out the article on Arapiles.

A distinct lack of slip slap slop on one of the pictures.

What a load of rubbish.

If you were climbing naked and were seen by members of the public with children you are not going to end up in the sex offenders register.
