In case you've ever wondered who owns the bit of Scotland you live in, or your favourite hill:

Andy Wightman is currently offering 48hrs free access* to his land register, in order to illustrate what a public system of Land Registration (as per the recommendations of the Land Reform Review Group) might look like.

*normally it's a subscription-based service

Can you tell us who it is?

In reply to Douglas Griffin:

So? According to recent media reports the Scottish freedom mob have backed off from taking the lairds land back to the people because they need the financial backing from the rich landowners.

The owners of the areas around Loch Lomond are my homework for tonight.

no surprise the MOD has over 11,000 acres.
NTS, 5,000+ acres

Most owners have Scottish address' ,

Outwith Scotland , one private owner has an Acreage of 3022 - (owner is in Bedford. )

Another massive 4018 acres upper East of Loch Lomond owner is a company registered in Denmark.

I have walked all over this area, with no problems from any of these owners ( other than the MOD' s fences, and having to pay for the car park at Ben Lomond, which I hate .

1. What would they need their backing for?
2. Most of these people say they aren't rich and that's why they haven't undertaken any economic development.

1) They need influential backers. We don't know about any promised deals between Salmond and the lairds. The SNP seem to have done little about the survey re. Scottish land ownership. Balmoral is one of the worst land destroyers in Scotland. OMG it's owned by influential royals.
2) If they aren't rich why have they undertaken "developments " like these.

It has been known.

In reply to Douglas Griffin:

Surely the correct answer to "who owns Scotland" is "England"

Why do we need a database to tell us that?
In reply to rogersavery:

England doesn't even own England! So who owns England????
