Hi,

Me and the mrs are planning on going to the lake district for a week at the beginning of June, as neither of us have been and don't have a guidebook looking for a bit of advice.

Does anyone have some recommendations for a cheap and good campsite?

Good climbing locations, would like some low grade (vs and below) mountain multi pitch routes. Any other good crags we should look into with the same grades?

What to do on a rainy day? potential bouldering? tourism?

Finally a recommended guidebook for the routes described? Is there one similar to the rockfax/ground up north wales books? Currently living in southampton, so don't have much access to stores to flick through guide books for the area so will be looking to purchase online before we leave.

Thanks,

Ant

The FRCC selected climbs is the guidebook you need - http://www.needlesports.com/Catalogue/Books-Maps-DVDs/British-Guidebooks/La...

There are several campsites that are "decent" though it does depend on what level of facilities you are after. All the main valleys have at least one campsite.

For first time visits either Langdale or Borrowdale will give you most options with Buttermere and Dunnerdale as slightly less busy alternatives. Wasdale is another option though it doesn't have much rainy day alternatives, unless you wish to take the tour round Sellafield!
