UKC Fat Club is not a substitute for giving up pies and beer but to use in addition to such self denial as a motivational tool for all.

This training article by Dave Macleod includes a section on dietary advice from a climber's point of view:
http://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/page.php?id=317

A new thread is posted each week on Sunday for anyone to jot down their previous week's sins, noting goals, successes and failures and to swap ideas.

Anyone interested in starting is very welcome but you should aim to post each week, every week, however little or much you have eaten.
By making such a regular public record of your activities and by restating your goals every week this will hopefully
improve your eating habits to help achieve your weight loss/maintenance goals whatever the level of your current blobbiness.

Apologies to UKC Fit Club for the shameful plagiarism in this thread!

waterbaby - Family based temptations.
AndrewW - 2 lbs down.
practicallypixie - Good during week, pub fare weekend.
Sleepy_trucker - Car troubles over! don't suppose you fancy and putting my defender right? Weight stable.
Fatclimber - Can't find the scales (yeah - right!).
VS4b - 1 lb down. Hopefully the biking will pay off soon.
Dick, Still a Fat B - 13 st 3lb. Did you get the dog?
brad8563 - Giving us all hope.

Have a good week, and hey - let's be careful out there.
In reply to AndrewW:

Weighed in at 9st 10lb this morning. That's 2lb down on last week!

Off climbing for a few weeks due to a few niggles I want to avoid turning into something more serious so will be focusing on swimming and yoga.

Still can't find the scales (honest). All guess work but I am certain I have missed my goal of 96kg for first of July. Last week was good on the climbing and drinking front and Ok on the diet, so I think I lost a bit. Will be interested to see where I am when I finally do find the scales. Unfortunately in all the moving bits of the house about, I have put my back out. No real idea what I will manage next week.

In reply to AndrewW:

I'm down a pound again! Starting to think I must be ill or something! All I've changed is I'm a bit more conscious about what I'm eating, exercise is down on what it was if anything.

Re. your defender; I've got a disco td5 that I need to sort a couple of bits on before I sell it but struggling to motivate myself after the last couple of months! What's up with yours?

Probably eadier to say what's right with it! Let's see - worn springs on nearside. Indicators don't work. Clutch needs adjusting. Clutch fluid is leaking from somewhere. Windscreen wipers engage when press horn. Seats are falling to bits. Something 'odd' with the steering if take a right hand bend at any speed. Fuel gage doesn't work. Overheats if drive uphill for too long. Brakes need a quick pump of the pedal for then to work properly. On the good side the propshaft hadn't fallen off for a while, and it has just passed it's MOT (yes I know - the mind boggles).

Weight at SOW: 11st 7lb.
Weight at EOW: 11st 5lb.

Average calories per day: 1690.
Of these, 250 per day from alcohol (way too many).

Injuries are improving, so got out climbing 3 times. First 2 days only managed 4 routes each day: a couple F5's and a couple of F6a's. Third day a lot better: 6a+x4, 6bx2, 6b+x1. Still not keen to fall due to ankle only 80% there. Shoulder holding up reasonably well. Still can't do pull-ups or use fibgerboard though.

Having lots of work done on house. A lot of stuff has been moved out to the garage (thats how I did my back in). Bringing stuff back in, but still haven't seen them.

Oh OK. Fair enough.

In reply to AndrewW:

Congrats on weight loss again.

As predicted I've gained a pound but amazed it's not 4lbs, the amount I ate and frank last week. Back on it this week

In reply to AndrewW:

Sounds like a project and a half lol, I'm an ex mechanic so nothing really sounds un fixable to me really but at the end of the day it's all just nuts and bolts if you apply a bit of logic. I'd genuinely love to help but I'm snowed under with my own problems at the moment; the replacement engine's sprung an oil leak, behind the gearbox

Still, it's keeping me out of trouble I suppose! If you get stuck on anything I'll do my best to point you in the right direction
In reply to AndrewW:

My scales must be broken. This morning I have weighed (within 2 hours) 9st 9, 9st 12 and 10st 1!
 VS4b 04 Jun 2014
In reply to practicallypixie:

Weight about the same at 252.5

Cycled 200miles last week, including 151 on Saturday so thats still plodding along ok. Still no sign of focus on food, so i guess i shoudl be happy to be keeping the same.

In reply to practicallypixie:

Mine are being temperamental too!

13s12 down 1 lb
got the dog GSD/retriever cross rescue
now mountain biking an hour a day ( to exercise the dog)
this should help the weight though less time to climb
I took him to Bowles the other day, he was so scarred of all the people he hid in a cave under Henessey heights and got covered in green mould. Need to work on his socialisation, but next time I take him climbing I will go somewhere quieter.
thanks
