I want to patch a hole in the soft leather uppers of my rock shoe, - any suggestions re materials, especially adhesives?

Good luck, you'll need it. I've tried sewing closed rips before but normally on my shoes the leather blows because its so worn (crack climbing). You sew up a hole, it just rips below the stitching. Patching has to be better but there is often very little space between laces, rubber etc.

Take them to a good cobbler and they'll fix them brilliant for about 4 quid. It doesn't have to be a specialist one. My local one did a brilliant job on mine and didn't even know what climbing shoes were.
