But there is more to it than that, surely? Ultrasonic ropes? What does that mean?

I recently bought a pair of Salsa 50m, mostly on intuition but also being very confident in Edelrid (my Edelrid single rope from them has survived years of abuse fine), since all petzl rope are actually manufactured by Edelrid on Petzl specifications.

Of course I can't say how it will fare down the years, but it was a pleasure to handle, clip, belay, so I am very satisfied at the moment. I mostly used it on multi-pitch climbs.
