Google maps within the UK

Navfree outside the UK

You can no longer easily download google maps for other terrotories( - though I stand to be corrected on that) - so have to bear the outrageous roaming charges currently in place, though that will change soon thanks to EU legislation.

gopilot is good, free, and you can download the maps for use off-line even with the basic version

Are you able to connect your Nexus to a PC and swap music to the Nexus?

I can no longer connect my Nexus tablet or phone. They keep disconnecting.

OSMAnd+ (Pro) if you're going to be out of range of a signal, uses Open Street Maps and allows you to download all the maps you need (Google limits this to six areas)

Wired connections are just so yesterday

I tend to keep a folder on the PC for files I want to sync and use Syncme to do the job automatically without the need for cables.

Waze, excellent app and updates constantly as you travel due to other waze users inputting local conditions.
