Why has previous owner stopped my van door sliding?

As happy owner of a Vauxhall movano van (aka a Renault master) I am wondering why the previous owner has inserted two washers and a bolt half way along the sliding door track thus ensuring that it will only open half way?
Are the doors renowned for falling off or something?

Obviously there is nowhere better to turn than UKC for this sort of question

Perhaps they had some kind of equipment in the back part of the van that they didn't want to hit with the door every time they opened it?

They needed to stay out of sight, but still have enough room to swing the guns out. You've bought a "Technical"

Oh I see. That what the tripod mounts just inside are for then.

Has he also fitted shackles in the back and maybe a duct tape dispenser?

So the horse could stick it's head out and see were they are going.

I've yet to do that I haven't finished the conversion.

I'm going to remove the washers and see what happens...

A wild guess. On my Ducato Campervan, if the sliding door opens fully it engages a catch so that you have to pull the handle outwards before pulling shut. This is quite annoying, particularly if you are parked so that the door slides open of its own accord. So maybe it's been rigged to prevent that. Also, if it's a campervan and the rear window opens outwards and you forget to shut it, the sliding doors slams into it and breaks it.

In fact I think I might do the same!
