Planned a trip into the Bernina range for the coming week but the weather looks cak. Thunderstorms without much of a break during the 2 weeks we're there. Will play it by ear and keep checking the weather but anyone in the alps know of an alternative that is going to be in good conditions from this saturday?
First trip into the alps so any suggestions welcome - even if its on long rock routes.

Cheers

any forecast more than about a week in advance is make believe IMO even then more than a few days is not to be trusted. Saturday is about as far ahead as I'd really pay much attention to the forecast IMO.

That said the alps isn't looking that great next week on ecmwf I'll admit.

I just can give you some hints for Switzerland, I don't know the rest of the Alps that good.

-->This is the page with the official forecast made by the Swiss Confederation. You can also check out the weather for a specific place:

Doesn't look that bad for this weekend IMO.

--> Forecast of Swiss Television, also reliable.
I wouldn't even check out other pages for weather forecasts in Switzerland.
Until Sunday evening the weather should be fine, afterwards it doesn't look that good.
Other Tours (comparable to Bianco Grat):
Wallis:
- Lenzspitze
- Alphubel Rotgrat
- Allalinhorn Hohlaubgrat
...and a lot more
Berne:
- Mönch Süwdwestgrat
- Jungfrau innerer Rottalgrat
- Finsteraarhorn
...and a lot more
You can check out www.4000er.de for more options for alpine tours.

Finding a long rock route is not that easy, there are tons of it.
How many Pitches? More than 10? Should it be bolted? How should it be bolted? Which grade?

cheers

Weather can be very local from one valley to another- this area has lots of mid grade granite apart from alpine routes.
