Anyone know how long the abseil from the south peak of the Cobbler is? Thinking of taking 1 x 60m rope rather than two for the traverse.

60m will be more than enough. I assume you are heading towards central peak. It's not a long ab, from hazy memory maybe 10m. If it's dry you'd be able to down climb it comfortably. In the wet, with the polish, it's a bit too insecure for me. However I suspect that, if it's wet you'll not have managed to climb a route up there anyway schist being what it is.

Definitely less than 25, more than 10. There's a block anchor on the summit area, covered in a tat a couple weeks ago. There's also one which I've always used, just down a slanting crackline.

Fairly easy to downclimb winding ledges at about Mod, though the gullies can still be seeping when the rest of the mountain is dry.

Cheers John, just what I wanted to hear.

Thanks Kevin.

It's a scramble, in reasonable conditions it'd take longer to set up and carry out the ab than it would to scramble off.
