Coincidental to my boiler servicing hassle, I received, on the same day, two calls about "free" replacement boilers. Strangely both numbers were displayed and came up when I dialled 1471. As I usually do, when I'm dubious about who has called me, I googled both numbers but could find no obvious legitimate details as to whose numbers they were.

Does anyone know if these scammers, knowing that people are wary about undisclosed numbers, have some means of using an apparently(but not really) legitimate phone number? One number was an 0843; the other was a London - 0208 one.

Was one 0843 713 0362? They keep bothering me but I'm not picking up.

Well, There's a new government grant available for energy efficency improvements so it could well be a third party call centre trying to generate leads for their clients. or ,yes, they could be scammers - be aware.

No. It was 0843 654 6769.

When I googled it several people said they had received what obviously nuisance calls ranging from silence to pornography. I've reported it because we are on TPS so we shouldn't have had it even if ir was legitimate.
