so, have the possibility of moving to squamish as my wife has been offered a job there.

anyone got any experience in finding work/accommodation there?

worked as an instructor in the UK (MIA, UKCC paddling quals...) but been working construction since moving to canada a year ago. (Unfortunately the quals don't transfer)

there is practically no rental accommodation there at the minute but the move wouldn't happen until end of sept.

Any tips/advice greatly appreciated

At the risk of being blackballed by the mods, maybe worthwhile asking the question on UK Bouldering. Toby who runs the website has lived in Squamish for a number of years.

You will be able to find something to rent via Craigslist, but lots is lodging and houseshare in Squamish. On the other hand, you can buy something affordably there if you're not too fussy.

I know a lot of people who are trying to move to Squamish from the Vancouver area. Outdoor work is very competitive, and work in general can be hard to come by in Squamish. On the other hand, a lot of climbers live in Squamish and commute to Vancouver. It's quite a drive to do every day, but there is a lot of construction work in Vancouver if you just need something to pay the rent initially.
