Hi All

I need to get to Saas Fee for the 1st of September and back on the 11th - any suggestions as to the best means of travel as I fear my car wouldn't make it!

Best,

I've always flown to Geneva and rented a car but you can get a train or coach from various airports.

Some info on transfer times here:

I've just got back from there and we flew to Geneva and used a Swiss Transfer Ticket to get the train Visp and then a bus to Saas.

It's one ticket that will take you from any airport or border to any destination and back again for 139CHF or about £80/90. It works out cheaper than booking tickets normally.

Have a look also at the Swiss Card ticket, it may still be available this year and, for me, its the best deal you can get when staying for around two weeks.

Last two years we used it with great success. The ticket is for a period between your flight dates (you fill them yourself on the ticket). On the "edge dates" you get a free transfer from/to airport from the place of your final accomodation in Switzerland (essentially you can travel all day on train and postal bus). In the dates between the arrival and departure you get 50% off all train/bus/lift tickets.

So, if you are in Saas and feel like going to, say, Breithorn to acclimatise you can take the bus to Stalden and then train to Zermatt and still catch the first lift to Klein Matterhorn. If the weather is bad, you can take the train to Lausanne with 50% discount.

Hope this helps
