Hi,

Can anyone recommend a gorge walk near Matlock? it will be for a bunch of non-climbing mates as a bit of a jolly on a stag-do so nothing needing ropes etc. Any advice appreciated!

Lathkill Dale
Millers Dale
or if you like crowds
Dove Dale
However it is quite easy to find quieter off shoots from the main tourist arteries.

Thanks for the info Duncan. What are the logical entry and exit points for Miller's Dale and Lathkill Dale?

Maybe I should have said Gorge Scramble? ie actually being in the river, jumping into pools etc

Miller's Dale would be Monsal head and down to Cressbrook
Lathkill Dale would be Monyash or Alport
However although both are interesting I wouldn't describe them as gorge scrambles as paths are reasonable throughout.
Slightly better for that might be scrambling up the Devil's Arse at Castleton, no river though or the river passage round Lovers leap at Dove dale. To be honest they aren't really that sort of gorges.
Chee dale is another possibility

Sounds like an ideal name for a stag do anyway.
