Hi all,

We have a Wild Country Khamsin tent that needs reproofing. I bought some Fabsil from Cotswold - the instructions say to paint it on, wipe down with a clean cloth, then leave to dry. It mentions not using it near glued seams. Mr TC has had a rummage online and there doesn't seem to be any clear advice on what happens if it does get near seams on a modern tent.

Anyone know any more?

Ta!
In reply to Tall Clare:

It quite possibly seeps through the seams to the tape and dissolves the glue. Just a hypothesis.

I've proofed many tents with Nikwax solarproof
Works brilliantly just soak/rub it into the seems and leave it 5 mins
Beads off lovely and lasts well used on hilles T/N
Msr Hubba you should get 3 tents from a £6 bottle

Fabsil (Gold) dissolves the tape glue or separates the tape from the fabric. Though not immediately, you will notice it in a year. Mc Nett seam sure is then the cure. Take the loose tape off and brush Seam sure on the inside where the tape was. For Seam Sure use your own brush, the McNett brush is not so good. You will paint it upside so best is to paint it with your own brush from a jar.
Anyways best is not to paint Fabsil on the seams.
I just paint it on with a brush (not covering the seams) and leave it to dry. Works like a dream. Good stuff.
