Pretty shocking end to Bernie Ecclestone's bribery trail in Germany.

He bungs them $100 million.

Asked by Judge Peter Noll if he could raise the $100m, Mr Ecclestone replied "yes". When asked if the payment could be made within a week, his defence lawyer, Sven Thomas, said: "That's do-able."

I was certainly struck by the irony of this; essentially, it seems that the German prosecutor is saying "offer us a $100M bribe, and we'll make the case go away".

If it's not a blatant bribe, what is it?

aye, i didn't understand that legal process either, bribe your way out of a bribery case, publicly. Why didn't they just fine him $100m and send him down.
