Hi,

Been looking through the forums/logbooks (and web in general) for any info on low grade sport climbing in Sardinia. Looking for friendly stuff for a mixed ability group in the 4-5 range.

Usually go out there for a few weeks in September and stay around Orosei. Was thinking about checking out some of the climbing this year. Be particularly interested to hear of any experience on the inland crags and indeed and recommendations on guide books.

Thanks as always.

Can't help you for that area, but there should be enough for you to go at near the Lemon house. Pietra Di Luna is the guidebook to get, but crags appear and disappear from it each edition, and some editions don't have any multipitch in them. Sound Of Silence was a great route, but possibly a bit hard for your intended grades? I think there's some slab routes near Cala gonone suitable for you.

In terms of low grade routes, Budinetto has plenty of easy angled 5's and some 3's / 4's. It would mean driving to Cala Gonone but it doesn't look too far from where you are staying. As mentioned above the main guide book is Pietra di Luna, although there is a cheaper guide to just around Cala Gonone called Arrampicare a Cala Gonone.

Budinetto gets horribly crowded. I'd recommend putting in the tiny bit of extra effort to get to Flintstones, you'll very likely have the crag to yourself and the rock is far less polished.
