Nick Bullock high on the incredible Jub Jub Bird at Rhoscolyn, 3 kbEarlier this summer, when the golden sun warmed the rock of North Wales, alpinist and trad climber Nick Bullock seized the opportunity of dry crags and strong arms to tick three of his dream routes. Here he recounts his adventures...

"Vinnie Jones intimidation punched from the quartzite cracks... The smell of its stale breath mingled with the sea salt and turned the rock beneath the overhang dark slippery slimy where it is at it's most unprotected steepest. I always wanted to tussle. I wanted more than any to ruffle but those Jubjub feathers, but those talons and sharp orange teeth intimidated me almost like no other. "

I'm not one for reading about the super hard climbs that are well outside my ability and comfort zone, but I really enjoyed reading this article. A flair for words and setting the scene.

"I wanted to say, 'no.. but the wrong word came out of my mouth.

"OK.""

Superb.
Read the rest this morning. Get me to Gogarth

I'm really surprised there aren't more comments about this excellent piece.

Just a word for the 80's 'stars' I followed Marting 'Basher' Atkinson up The Jub Jub Bird back in the day. Peg was new to be fair but I don't remembering him struggling very much. Loved the piece Nick and totally impressed with the hard trad scene thriving today.
