Having figured out that my Petzl Quarks are quite light (fantastic in the alps but pretty bad on pure ice) I looked to see how much the Petzl pick weights cost. Well, being told that they're definitely more than 40 quid a pair, I am now looking for alternatives.

The guy at the store told me to just get some bolts and screw them on. I figured that may work quite well, especially since the main drilled hole is 6mm and its easy enough to come up with something heavy.

Has anyone got any experience with that? Any other suggestions?

Also, does anyone know how much the Petzl pick weights actually weigh? The internet has given me no answers after a pathetically short search...

Cheers,
Michael

Can't help you with the bolt and screws

I've just weighed the 2 pick weights, screw and nut = 65 grams.

Hope this helps

Cheers
