Ok you lovely people, you helped me out when searching for a place to lay my head a few months ago when I asked for Mendips accommodation info (I stayed in a caving club hut)... I need you to do it again.

I'm cycling from home (Christchurch) to Lymington, then ferry to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. I'll then cycle around the IoW before heading home the following day. I'm not in a race so will take it steady to enable me to take in the stunning coastal views. I'm looking for some cheap accommodation roughly at the half way point, which I guess would be Sandown, Shanklin or Ventnor area. Ideally I'd wild camp (If the weather is looking particularly good then I'll pack my hammock instead) but don't have any panniers on my road bike so will need to travel light - toothbrush and wallet

I'll be doing this weekend 13/14 Sept.

Any thoughts?

No I didn't, thank you. The RTI cycle ride is a week later, thankfully. However there are other things I could tap into. Great link... thanks again.

So I need accommodation in Ventnor now, seeing as I'm now doing this: RACE 2 The Ventnor Horseshoe (BM), 12km - 443m ascent 3.00 pm

I stayed in Whitwell which is not far from Ventnor and not far off the round the wight circuit - this was the place http://fordfarmhouse.com/ and it was really quite nice. The lovely couple there even told me to bring my bike into the hallway overnight even though it was full of antique furniture.

Many thanks for taking the time to post comment and a link. However it's a tad too pricey for me, I'm after something cheaper, something hostel or bunkhouse price.
