I have a peculiar injury in my left arm/hand
under normal usage it is fine but if I extend my arm and move my thumb to grip I get a sharp tingling pain (sometimes like an electric shock) between the base of my thumb and forefinger and then the area goes numb, sometimes it travels up the forearm.
Anyone else experienced this/know what it is?

I can still grip there doesn't seem to be any loss of function

In reply to Duncan Bourne:
The odd pain I had in that area was diagnosed as De Quervain's tendonitis. Not sure if that is same as symptoms you describe but for what it is worth, by the time I got some 'proper' advice it was healing itself......... I think this was 6 weeks or so before I felt able to trust it to climb again.
