If i was to visit Borrowdale which route should I not miss?

In reply to WB:

Depends on what grade you climb, of course.
Fisher's folly. A VS at Shepherd's.
In reply to WB:

Bitter Oasis - scary but rewarding. Grand AllIance - the fall is impressive but safe and the route is a a cracker!
 Skyfall 06 Sep 2014
In reply to WB:

I can see your grades but I'd genuinely say don't miss Little Chamonix (v diff). Very characterful and with history.

Bitter Oasis or The Voyage looking at what you have been climbing recently. (There is a recent logged accent of The Voyage, so it may be clean)

In reply to WB:

Banzai Pipeline and Nagasaki Grooves.
In reply to WB:

Zoar.

What she said.

In reply to WB:

We were chatting yesterday about this - and the Voyage came up - together with Little Cham (bit difference in grade).

Believe Nagazaki Groove wants a good clean - but was (!) a great route.

Difficult to define "the best" - lots of good routes - why just "the best" - bit like saying "bestseller" for a book - there seems to be looks of "best sellers" but there can only be one (??).

Add on Aphazia; Corvus; Bitter Oasis; Praying Mantis; Troutdale Pinnacle; Grand Alliance; Hell's Wall; Bowderstone Pinnacle; Mandrake; Penal Servitude; Guillotine - etc etc - as "Best sellers".

In reply to WB:

Best route in Borrowdale at any grade is Troutdale Pinnacle.

And character-building. Oh so character-building...

In reply to Al Evans:

This year was the centenary of its first ascent - we had an ascent in tweeds but not hobnails. Surprised how warm tweed is !

Great route though.

In reply to WB:

Raindrop and conclusion are classic routes at E1. Troutdale Pinnacle, Corvus and Little Chamonix are 3 classic lower grade climbs!

If you consider climbing is supposed to be fun, then this is one of the best routes in Borrowdale, Inside Route at Doves Nest http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/c.php?i=121300

In reply to SCrossley:

I enjoyed Outside Route more than Corvus.
