Alpine Comic book in French?

Bit of a long shot....

I am looking for a book that I saw in France many years ago, that was like comic drawings of alpine climbing. The mountains where always more pinnacle than possible and the comic climbers seemed to be fancily climbing up, with the rope often rapped around the pinnacle several times. I think the first name of the author / artist was Samuel but I could be wrong.

I saw the book many times in Chamonix, this would have been 25 years ago and I think it has been out of print for many years now.

Any ideas?

I think you're thinking of Samivel: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samivel (sorry, no English version on Wikipedia).

His collections of watercolours are still very popular and very much in print.
