My wife has just been to the funeral of her mum's best mate, Dorothy.
During the service a friend, who was giving an eulogy, reminded everyone of Dorothy's tale of the time that she was stranded on top Mt Cook with Sir Edmund Hillary, and the pair of them had to be rescued.
Dorothy was also the first female journalist to report from the Antarctic.
Dorothy kindly left me her collection of Antarctic books.
